FreeWeb AI

From an idea to the internet.

A practical guide to building and publishing your first website with FreeWeb AI.

1. Describe your idea

Choose a website type and write a clear prompt. The free local generator creates HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Connect AI for custom content and open-ended requests.

2. Make it yours

Use follow-up prompts for color, layout, mobile and SEO improvements, or edit files directly. Undo and redo changes. Try Preview, Code and Split views.

3. Keep your work

Sign in for private cloud saves. Guest work is kept only in the current tab. Download a ZIP before closing. Cloud project values have a 95 KB app limit.

4. Publish with confidence

Run the SEO checklist, then publish to your GitHub repository or download a ZIP for Cloudflare. Deployment is pending until the provider confirms a successful build.

Custom domains, step by step

  1. Purchase or use a domain you already own. Domain registration is separate from free hosting.
  2. In GitHub repository Settings → Pages → Custom domain, enter your domain. For a subdomain, add a DNS CNAME pointing to your GitHub account’s pages hostname. Follow GitHub’s documented A/AAAA records for an apex domain.
  3. For Cloudflare, use Workers & Pages → your project → Custom domains → Set up a custom domain. Follow the DNS instructions provided for that exact domain.
  4. Wait for DNS validation, enable HTTPS, then set your live URL in the SEO tool and regenerate the canonical URL, Open Graph URL and sitemap.

DNS and certificates can take time. Never enter invented DNS addresses; use the hosting provider’s current instructions.

What’s free, and what needs an account?

Is website generation really free?

The local template generator, code editor, responsive preview and ZIP export do not require an AI subscription. They are not a general-purpose language model. AI providers apply their own quotas and billing.

Can I build React and TypeScript projects?

The editor can edit TS and TSX source returned by your connected AI provider. Browser previews execute the static index.html and referenced CSS/JS files only; arbitrary npm projects require an external build. Ask AI for a Vite project plus a working static preview, then export and run npm install and npm run build locally.

Where are my projects saved?

Signed-in projects use private account-scoped key-value storage. Guest projects are in memory, not persisted. Export a ZIP for an offline backup. No relational database is needed for this version.

What are the security boundaries?

Preview scripts run in an opaque-origin iframe with network requests and forms restricted by CSP. Downloaded or published code is outside that sandbox. Review generated code before publishing. This is risk reduction, not a complete security guarantee.

Can generated stores take payments or forms send emails?

Local templates include browser-only interactions, not payment processing or email delivery. A generated form clearly downloads an enquiry. Add a real server-side service before collecting customer data or money.
